1 Introduction & Scope
Welcome to Darknet X (accessible at https://darknet.com.ng and https://www.darknet.com.ng). Darknet X is operated in conjunction with the SHOWBOX streaming platform and mobile application ecosystem ("we", "us", or "our").
This Privacy Policy governs your use of our web portal, client APIs, and related streaming services. By accessing or using Darknet X, you acknowledge and agree to the practices outlined in this document. If you do not agree with any portion of this policy, please refrain from accessing our services.
2 Information We Collect
We believe in minimal data footprint. We only collect information that is strictly necessary to deliver a fluid streaming experience:
- Account Information: When you register or sign in using email, username, or third-party authentication (such as Google Sign-In), we receive your display name, email address, and avatar image.
- Playback & Watch Progress: Resume timestamps (e.g. 14 minutes into an episode), recently watched items, bookmark lists, and favorite titles to provide seamless cross-device continuation.
- Technical & Device Telemetry: Anonymized browser type, screen resolution, operating system, and crash/error reports to diagnose streaming buffering and UI responsiveness.
- Local Storage & Cookies: Session tokens, volume levels, preferred subtitle languages, and UI dark mode preferences stored locally in your browser.
Google API Services User Data Policy Compliance
Darknet X's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres strictly to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
• Requested Scopes: We only request basic identification scopes (openid, email, profile) to identify your authenticated account without requiring manual password creation.
• Limited Purpose: Data received via Google Sign-In is used solely to authenticate your account and synchronize your saved watchlist and watch progress between Darknet X Web and the SHOWBOX Android app.
• No Advertising / Profiling: We do not use Google user data to serve personalized advertisements, build advertising profiles, or sell to data brokers.
• No AI Model Training: We never use personal data received from Google APIs to train, retrain, or fine-tune artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
3 How We Use Your Information
The information we collect is exclusively deployed to:
- Deliver adaptive HLS video streaming suited to your connection speed.
- Synchronize your watch progress between your mobile SHOWBOX app and web browser.
- Prevent automated scrapers, brute-force attacks, and API misuse.
- Respond swiftly to support tickets, DMCA takedown requests, and inquiries.
4 Data Retention & Account Deletion
We retain your account details and streaming preferences only for as long as your account remains active. You have full legal rights under GDPR, CCPA, and Nigeria NDPR to access, modify, or permanently purge your data.
How to delete your account and personal data:
- Visit your Darknet X Profile page and select "Delete Account".
- Alternatively, send an email to privacy@darknet.com.ng with the subject "Data Deletion Request".
- Upon confirmation, all personal credentials, watch history, bookmarks, and session tokens are permanently erased from our database within 24 to 48 hours.
5 Data Security & Encryption
All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is secured using industry-standard Transport Layer Security (TLS 1.3 / SSL) with 256-bit encryption. Passwords and session secrets are cryptographically hashed using Argon2/Bcrypt algorithms. We employ hardened firewalls, rate-limiting, and SQL injection barriers to safeguard your digital presence.
